Ephyra

Ephyra is the capital city of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. The city rests on the granite-based Jacinto Plateau, which meant it was spared during the COG's Hammer of Dawn attacks that decimated most areas that could be accessed by Locust. However, the city was seized nine years later when Marcus' dereliction of duty allowed the city to fall to the Locust. He was imprisoned in Jacinto Maximum Security Prison.

Azura

The island of Azura is a secret research facility where the COG hides all its most valuable citizens; they began this during the Pendulum Wars. Ten years after Emergence Day, Adam Fenix's death was faked and he was abducted by Chairman Richard Prescott to work on the Imulsion Countermeasure in Azura. The island was kept safe from intruders mainly due to the Maelstrom Barrier, which created an artificial hurricane around the island so no one knew it was there. However, the Locust eventually found Azura and slaughtered all its residents, except Adam Fenix who was captured by Myrrah. Delta Squad eventually found Azura as well and protected Adam long enough so he could activate the Imulsion Countermeasure, which killed the Locust, Lambent and Adam. Ultimately, Azura is the battlefield where the COG finally defeated the Locust and Lambent.

Sofia Hendrick

Sofia Hendrick is the ethical compass of Kilo Squad in Gears of War: Judgment. Formally an anti-COG journalist for The New Ephyran, she enlisted in the Coalition of Ordered Governments only hours after Emergence Day began. However, she didn't start out as a Private. Due to her intellect, she became a cadet at the prestigious Onyx Guard Academy in Halvo Bay, but her officer studies were cut short when the Locust attacked the city. She joined Kilo Squad and assisted them in launching the Lightmass Missile to kill General Karn, even though it would mean being tried for treason by Colonel Ezra Loomis. She was eventually pardoned and deserted the COG army with Garron Paduk shortly afterwards. She was later kidnapped by COG soldiers. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Booshka

The Booshka is a Union of Independent Republics grenade launcher that's capable of firing three successive projectiles to blanket a small area with explosive firepower. Its name is Gorasni for "Boom".

Mauler

Maulers resemble Boomers in size, but they're much faster when they charge their foes. They carry a flail and a Boom Shield, so always be sure to keep a distance from them.
