Developer Blog 7: Achievements and Gear Packs
The atmosphere at the studio is electric this week.
At the time of the release of this blog, we are just under 3 weeks away from the release of Gears of War 4 (or under that if you’ve secured your Early Access via the Ultimate Edition version!). We celebrated going Gold this week with a brand new Launch Trailer, and press from around the globe shared their thoughts on all three of our modes after an extensive 6+ hour preview with the game. Thanks for all the messages you shared with us on Monday - Gears family is the best family.
The reality of release is setting in, and we’re counting down the days where we can watch, read and listen to your thoughts on Gears of War 4. We cannot wait. Between here and then, we have a few more Developer Blogs to share with you – including new Versus gameplay footage and some details on the future of Gears of War 4.
Today’s blog is all about giving you the details on a couple of items we know you've been asking for. Today's blog has the reveal our full achievement list in store for you, plus more specifics on our launch Gear Packs available when you play this October. Let’s get to it. Welcome to the not-so-surprisingly named Developer Blog 7: Achievements and Gear Packs!
The Gears of War 4 Achievement List
Since we revealed Seriously 4.0, we’ve had a lot of questions asking “What about the rest of the achievements?”. We’ve got you. Check out Gears of War 4’s achievement list below.
NOTE: Some of our achievements are secret as standard, but we have added additional spoiler protection to the achievement list posted here for our fans.
We've hidden the names of all the story progression related achievements and added some protection to a couple of others. We advise fans concerned with spoilers avoid any other postings of achievement lists on other websites, as the full list may contain additional minor spoilers or story hints that you'd prefer to avoid.

Launch Gear Packs
As we promised way back in Developer Blog 1, it’s time to talk Gear Pack specifics!
Gear Packs are the new way to unlock customization content and more in Gears of War 4. Gear Packs are acquired via Credits, the new in-game currency for Gears of War 4. As you play online Versus or Horde, everything you do is earning you Credits - you just have to play!
Credits can then be used to acquire new Gear Packs, with different Credit values based on the kind of Cards they contain. If you’re short on time or simply want to accelerate the growth of your Card collection, Gear Packs can also be purchased with real world currency.
There's a ton of content for fans to discover - from Characters to Weapon Skins, Horde Skills to Bounties and more! At launch, Gear Packs will come in a variety of flavors with a specific focus for each offering to help you acquire the types of Cards you want. Find out more about Gear Packs, Cards, and the Card Creation system here.
(Note: Real world currency prices will vary by region – all prices below reflect USD pricing)
Versus Booster Pack
Cost: 400 Credits or 99c
Contents: 5 Versus Bounties
The Versus Booster pack is ideal for players who want to challenge themselves with Bounties, and speed up their progression through the ranks.
Versus Booster packs contain 5 Versus Bounties – challenges that can be equipped before a match that, if successfully completed, offer XP or Credit rewards. As a reminder, Versus Bounties are only consumed once successfully completed.
Horde Booster Pack
Cost: 400 Credits or 99c
Contents: 4 Horde Skills, 1 Horde Bounty
The Horde Booster pack is all about acquiring or levelling up existing Horde Skills.
While players can purchase these packs to hasten progression, players are still limited on how many Skills they can equip at one time (up to 5) by their Class Level. You’ll still need to play Horde 3.0 to gain the experience needed to level up. As with Versus Bounties, Horde Bounties are only consumed once successfully completed.
Cost: 1000 Credits or $1.99
Contents: 1 Guaranteed Customization Item, 4 Random Cards
This pack is great for players looking to acquire all kinds of Cards.
One card in each pack is guaranteed to be a Character, Weapon Skin or Emblem. The other 4 Cards can be any type, including Customization Items, Horde Skills and Bounties, which makes this a great variety pack for players not focusing on acquiring specific types of cards.
Cost: 4000 Credits or $4.99
Contents: 5 Customization Items, 1 Guaranteed to be Rare or higher
The best pack for rapidly building your collection of Characters, Weapon Skins and more!
One of the five cards in this pack is guaranteed to be Rare or higher. Every card in this pack will either be a Character, Weapon Skin or Emblem, Horde Skills and Versus Bounties do not appear in this pack.
Gears eSports Supporter Pack
The eSports Supporter Pack is packed full of unique customization items that you can use online to showcase your support for Gears eSports! We'll be revealing more details after launch, just in time for the first major Gears eSports activities of the season. For now, we'll leave you with this sneak peek image of the Crate for this special eSports pack. Speculate away.
Everyone who plays Gears of War 4 will receive one of each Gear Pack to kick start your collection. There will be additional special Gear Packs throughout the coming year and beyond that will offer additional ways to get the kind of content you want.
If you’re picking up the Ultimate Edition or Season Pass, you’ll get 17 additional Packs (or 85 Cards!) in the form of a Starter Airdrop to kick start your collection. The Starter Airdrop contains 5 Horde Boosters, 5 Versus Boosters, 5 Operations Packs and 2 Elite Packs.
In case you missed it, any of the cards found in any of these packs can be destroyed to generate Scrap, allowing you to create the cards you’ve always wanted when you’ve got enough Scrap. Any duplicates earned can also be used to build your Scrap funds. Apart from a few exceptions tied to promotions, every Card in the game at launch can be created with Scrap.
That's it for our latest Developer Blog installment! Stay tuned for more on the road to launch. We're getting oh so close to Gears of War 4's release, and we can't wait.
